Lobelia…sometimes called pukeweed
Lobelia (Lobelia inflata) was used by the American Indians to cure syphilis and to expel intestinal worms. The whole plant is picked and dried when in the flowering stage of growth. It is used as an expectorant for suffocating phlegm and excess mucous that has built up in the entire respiratory tract. It is used in pnuemonia, asthma, and chronic bronchitis. A heaping tablespoon per cup of boiling water yields a tea that will cause one to vomit up poisons or bad food. One must take care not to use this herb too often or in too strong dosages for it has caused death in large quantities.
