Garlic…nature's cure-all
Garlic (Allium sativum) is definitely one of nature's cure-alls. If one has a cold, pneumonia, or the flu, garlic can bring some well deserved relief from the malady. Garlic has been studied as an anticarcinogen and though the tests are not complete, there is a strong case for using garlic. It can be mashed and eaten raw to expel worms from the intestinal tract but it will cause a lot of gas. The juice has been used to rub affected parts in arthritis and rheumatism. An ointment can be made by simmering garlic in oil (olive oil) and used as a rub on the chest and around the neck for chest colds, bronchitis, pneumonia, and coughs. It is very aromatic to the point of offense but still very useful. One can eat garlic in food or, preferably, raw. A tiny piece can be placed in a cavity of a tooth to relieve the pain of toothache. For earaches, simmer garlic in olive oil, allow to cool until still warm and then pour a few drops into the ear. Now plug the ear with a small piece of cotton. Garlic is a stimulant to the whole system, a water reducer, an expectorant to get one to cough out mucous discharge in the sinuses, lungs and throat, snake bites, insect repellent, and tumour shrinker. It is also good as a poultice and is used against diaeehea, acne, and so forth. Garlic is also thought to keep away vampires by ancient people
